Layer names
Limber won’t work properly unless all it's layers in a comp have unique names. When you make a new limb, Limber will prevent you from using an existing layer name.
To name the layers of a new limb, Limber uses a combination of a prefix and a suffix, separated by a tilde character: ~
. You input the prefix in a textfield, and the suffix comes from the name preset in the dropdown. So if you type Right
for the prefix, and select the name preset Leg
, you’ll get Right~Ankle
, Right~Hip
and Right~Leg
for your layer names. Those suffixes can be changed by editing your name presets in Limber's
Settings
.
Renaming limbs
The
Rename
button changes the names of all the layers for the selected limb. A popup lets you select a name preset and enter a new prefix.
Renaming layers yourself
You can rename any Limber layer yourself, just like any other layer in After Effects. But it's a good idea to leave a single tilde ~
between the prefix and the suffix.
